Macro Photography

For May, we asked you to show us your best macro photography – and we were overwhelmed with your stunning submissions. Olympus Trailblazer Laura Hicks served as judge for our #MacroMay contest and selected our winner:

MacroPhotos06a“Honey Bee”
Taken by Barbara Lowe with an OM-D E-M5, M.Zuiko ED 60mm f2.8 MACRO.
“Photographing a flying bee is not an easy task. Freezing that moment while the bee is in flight requires patience, persistence, and skill. Barbara was able to do all of that and create an image that was detailed, interesting, and tack sharp. Phenomenal!”

2nd Place:

MacroPhotos06bIf Looks Could Kill
Shot by Brad Boland with the OM-D E-M5 Mark II and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm F2.8 Macro
“I love the soft feel of the foliage in stark contrast to the hard light cast upon the lizard. I love how I can almost read the lizard’s mind.”

3rd Place:

MacroPhotos06cLonely Phidippus
Shot by Jose Almodovar
Shot with the OM-D E-M5 and the M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm F2.8 Macro
“I love the colors in this image. They pop off of my screen. The spider has so much detail. I love the way it is looking directly at me.”
